COURSE HIGHLIGHTS:
Develop Culinary Skills: Unlock your culinary potential and become a more confident and versatile cook. Our instructors will guide you through a range of fundamental culinary techniques, enabling you to prepare delicious dishes from scratch.
Build Community Around Food: Food has a remarkable ability to bring people together. You'll have the opportunity to forge meaningful connections with others in your community. Through collaborative cooking experiences, tastings, and open discussions, we aim to foster a sense of unity and understanding among participants.
Reduce Food Waste: Learn how to make the most of ingredients, reduce food waste, and adopt sustainable cooking practices. We'll explore creative ways to repurpose leftovers, use seasonal produce efficiently, and minimize the environmental impact of our meals.
Contribute to Food Justice Work: We believe that food is a fundamental human right. We'll delve into the intersection of food, social justice, and equity, discussing issues like food access, food insecurity, and the impact of food systems on marginalized communities. While you will be able to take what you make home, the majority of what we prepare as a class will go into the Community Fridge as ready-to-eat meals.
Engage with Guest Speakers: Participate in thought-provoking discussions and gain insights into how you can contribute to a more just and sustainable food system alongside experts and activists in the field of food justice and sustainability.
